Lambert Image Intensifier II25

II25 image intensifer, high-speed camera attachment
II25 image intensifer, high-speed camera attachment

The Lambert image intensifier II25, high-speed camera attachment was designed to be used in combination with a high-speed camera. The image intensifier II25, will increase the sensitivity of the high-speed camera and allow low-light-level imaging applications at frame rates up to 100.000 fps. The II25, high-speed camera attachment is connected (F-mount or C-mount) to the high-speed camera for optimal flexibility.

Dynamic Range
The II25 image intensifier, high-speed camera attachment widens the dynamic range of the high-speed camera. At the low end single photons can be detected while at high illumination levels the use of very short gate pulses (down to 40ns) brings down the duty cycle of the image intensifier 10,000 times. At the same time these short exposures yield sharp images of fast moving objects.

Lens Mounts
The Standard image intensifier II25, high-speed camera attachment is equipped with F-mount at the input and C-mount at the output side. Optionally other mounts can be applied.

Applications:
• Combustion research
• Plasma Physics
• Dynamic Phenomena in Microscopy
• Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF)
• Micro Fluidics
• Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching (FRAP)
• and many other industrial or scientific low-light-level applications at high-speed imaging

Recordings (avi):
• Flames (mix Butane - Propane) at 4200 fps and 40 µs gate open time (effective exposure time), II25 image intensifier, high-speed camera attachment with Phantom V4.0 high-speed camera.
• Electronic Discharge at 47.000 fps and 3µs gate open time (effective exposure time), II25 image intensifier, high-speed camera attachment with Phantom V7.1 high-speed camera.
• Non-Intensified vs. Intensified recording of a gunshot
- movie 1: recorded at 15.000fps and 61µs gate open time (effective exposure time), with Phantom V7.1 high-speed camera.
- movie 2: recorded at 15.000fps and 2µs gate open time (effective exposure time), II25 image intensifier, high-speed camera attachment with Phantom V7.1 high-speed camera.
• Non-Intensified vs. Intensified recording of a flame
- movie 1: recorded at 4.000 fps and 230µs gate open time (effective exposure time) - lens fully open (F1.4) with Phantom V7.1 high-speed camera.
- movie 2: recorded at 6.000 fps and 3µs gate open time (effective exposure time) – lens stop (F6), II25 image intensifier, high-speed camera attachment with Phantom V7.1 high-speed camera.
• Blue gas flame, recorded at 100.000 fps (resolution 128x64) and 1µs gate time, made with the II25 in combination with the Phantom V7.1.

Low Jitter Digital Interface (II25D)
With the Low Jitter Digital interface, gain and gating of the image intensifier II25 can be controlled by software. The Low Jitter Digital interface also supplies the DC voltages for the II25 high-speed camera attachment and the gating electronics. When connecting a trigger output signal from an attached high-speed camera to the Low Jitter Digital interface, gating is synchronised with the exposure period and frame rate of the high-speed camera.
