KymoCam for Videokymography

The KymoCam, developed by Lambert Instruments, is a video camera used for the display and recording of fast phenomena such as vibrations. The high sampling rate of almost 8000Hz makes the camera very useful for study and analysis of vibrations. The KymoCam has been developed for the study of the vibrations of the vocal folds.
In both modes the camera output is a regular analog video signal. In line scan mode, the uppermost line of the normal video image is read out 8000 times per second. These line images are displayed underneath each other as a function of time on the video monitor. This way, vibrations along the line are presented as a function of time in vertical direction.
