The Day / Night camera is an intensified camera that can be used for surveillance 24 hours a day. The camera has an automatic gain and gating control that enables 24 hours' day / night operation. The day / night recording shows an overnight recording of a field of grass with a horse. It starts by day (short gating), but continuous during night (long gating). A man flashes his torch in order to see where he is walking. In those parts of the recording you clearly see that the (auto)-gating shortens, because the parts of the field of grass, that are not lighted by the torch, are much darker.
